One of the games I want to run at some point is a Colony game set in the Starcraft universe: play as Terran colonists on a backwater world in the Koprulu sector during the height of the Confederacy vs Kel-Morian Combine conflict.
If/when I do, rather than just the Terran soundtrack from Starcraft and Broodwar (though they are very good), I’d also rely heavily on the Lost Planet 3 soundtrack. I feel it totally sells that semi-peaceful, almost wistful melancholy of the frontier. Take a listen!
Good suggestion. I missed that game.
Here’s a few more in that vein:

Oh yeah, Red Dead is the gold standard of Western OSTs.
Bastion is super good, but funnily enough has too much variety in sound style to work as a background for a tabletop. The music is big and right at the forefront; it’s too good and thus distracting. Same goes for most of Transistor’s tracks.
Agreed on both counts. I listened to Transistors for a bit, and found it a bit too…forward?
For Red Dead, I’d need to take the ‘fighty’ tracks out, and leave in the ‘contemplative’ ones.
(Now I’m wondering if I should go back and play Lost Planet 3…)
(EDIT: 360, not One. Nope.)
I’d love to do a Starcraft themed game using this system.
