I’m about to run my first Urban Shadows game and I’m going to have a few questions, so I might as well start asking…
The Oracle has an ability called Conduit that says Advance Let It Out for all characters in your presence… What exactly does that mean? Do they automatically count as having rolled a 12+?
If you check out Chapter 6: The Long Game (specifically pages 172-175) one of the options for character improvement is Advancing the Basic Moves. What those do is give the PCs more powerful options if they roll a 12+.
Characters do not normally get the effects of a 12+ unless they either Advance that move or some other move allows them to get that benefit (like Conduit). So this allows them (if they roll a 12+) to get that extra benefit. They still have to roll it.
Okay, so they still have to roll 12+, but if they do they get the bonus, which before they would not unless they had advanced the move the normal way.
Yes.
Is Advancing permanent? Judging from the Oracle move up there, I’d say not, but I don’t remember the mechanic being as obviously scene-limited as, say, hold.
That is, it’s clear what it does, but it’s not clear if (and when) it stops.
No, it is just for that one roll.
