This is a pretty basic question, I know, but I can’t really find it with a google search.

This is a pretty basic question, I know, but I can’t really find it with a google search. What exactly happens when you’ve got your fourth advance and you use it to change gimmicks? Does everything about you reset, or do some things carry over?

  1. Joe Zantek What about stats? Just re-do the stats from the new gimmick? What happens to your previous advance choices?

(BTW, great job with Joey, really enjoyed him in the Journeyman’s cup)

  2. Joe’s half-right, you can choose to switch out the starting Move choices. If one of those is a stat bump, then yes, that stat will go down.

    p. 47-48 of the book cover this in detail! The basics:

    – keep your Stats

    – keep every Move you’ve purchased with Advances and Custom Moves

    – lose the automatic Moves for the old Gimmick and gain the automatic Moves for the new Gimmick

    – trade the first Moves you selected when you made the original character for Gimmick Moves from the new Gimmick one-for-one (including keeping all those Moves as well, if you want)

    – take -1 Heat with everyone

    – take -1 Audience

    – pick your new Role (or whether you’re coming back in an Advanced Role) and make the Heat adjustment
