So, 3 years ago after meeting Andrew Medeiros online and hearing about the first Drafts of Urban Shadows (at the time called Dark Streets,) I took it upon myself to start a small add-on of Vampire the Masquerade with Steve Moore. As Urban Shadows grew and interest grew, the project grew greatly with extreme help of John Layton.

Now, after moving past just VtM, but objective was to finish the big 4 (Vampire, Werewolf, Mage and Hunter) and call it done, but demands asked that we kept going to a bigger 8. Some time around early last year, I ran out of steam finishing Demon with John. Part of it was lack of local gaming group, part gaming politics, and part a heavy rewrite of the rules to align with the last drafts of US.

What I am hoping is that some volunteers will step in and help me finish Changeling, so I can close up this chapter and hand it off to everyone to enjoy.

Demon “should” be complete, it has been reworked multiple times by John and myself, but having it play tested would be phenomenal.

  1. Althought i really loved Changeling the Dreaming, it never fitted in the WoD universe.

    Changeling the Lost, on the other hand, is perfect for such kind of games. And is incredible good on his own ^_^

    BTW.- Vampire, Werewolf, Mage and Hunter the big 4??, i never though of Hunter as anything else than a secondary book Ô.o

  2. Oscar Iglesias I agree with Hunter, but felt the Human’s needed something in this game.

    If you look at the Changeling doc, I went with Changeling the Lost for that exact reason.

  4. Oscar Iglesias, I will take whatever help I can get to finish this damn book. I just have writer’s block mixed with lack of motivation, and I need something to help jump start it.

  6. We had a game of Vampire planned running US with these add-on rules. Too bad the game master got too tied up to get it off the ground (Tuomas Lähdeoja )

  8. Btw for people just seeing that this exist, this can be played with a singular supernatural or mixed. I have run hundreds of test as all mages or all werewolves or all vampires.

  10. When were you thinking of doing the playtest? I have nothing but time these days. I also wouldn’t mind helping out with Changeling if you need it, I’m trying to get back into WoD, especially with Dark Eras and Beast having just been released.

  11. John Layton, as I said …. I just need motivation, so if you want to get on a call and destroy this in like two shots, we could. Let me look at my work calendar and we can do it at like 2 est (11 pst) during the week, work for you? 

    As in Playtest, once we finish changeling, I will try and do a playtest of both together. Have people make one character of each and then people can play 50% one and 50% the other for a couple games.

  14. Kirt Dankmyer whenever you want on your time, head to the changeling doc and leave some notes in comments. ALL notes and ideas are wanted and listened to.

  21. This mostly seems World of Darkness, not Chronicles of Darkness, except for Werewolf. Was this due to feeling that Werewolf: The Forsaken fit better with the base werewolf playbook?

Oh, that’s just a rebranding thing: when Onyx Path Publishing and White Wolf were bought out by Paradox Interactive, “New World of Darkness” was rebranded to “Chronicles of Darkness.” While it wasn’t said, I have to imagine that Paradox Interactive’s hope of producing Old World of Darkness (now, just World of Darkness) video games got them worried that the video game audience would get confused between oWoD and nWod and decided a rebranding would avoid that confusion. They likely rebranded nWoD as oWoD has clout in the video gaming industry due to Bloodlines and, frankly, they were more interested in WoD than CoD, due to Bloodlines. 

  24. Outside of that, there has been no changes. Well, they did re-release the nWoD core book as Chronicles of Darkness with all the God-Machine-Chronicles Update added in.

  25. Gotcha. The books we used were all over the place as we needed  to find books that would somehow work in a world where potentially all the characters could be a group from various books.

  26. Yeah, I noticed that on the second look through. I always forget what was in what verision as I’ve been someone who watched the gameline from afar.

  27. This is fantastic! As long time fan of both OWOD and NWOD, this is the perfect blend. I plan on introducing my group to the regular version of U.S. And then letting them go deeper into their play books with this!

    I am glad you like it. It does change the system a bit as it allows the group to be played by all of one type. Otherwise, the rules are pretty straight forward, including the change abilities and new abilities.

    I you have any feedback, still can add things in. Always love good play testing. If you have any changeling experience, would love that as well.

  34. jim miller There are no playbooks from this add-on. This adds directly to the playbooks from US.

    I do have this, but as you can see it needs to be updated for updated moves and AT’s. This was created during an earlier version of US.

    Here when you can gain xp from one of the moves used, boxes go white to black. I cna update it if this is what you are looking for.

  35. I fully intend to finish this. After this next schedule change I’ll hopefully be less tired on my weekends, so that I can revisit it to work on it along with my writing.
