Mark Diaz Truman talked about Urban Shadows on my show +1 Forward! He even ran a scene for me, too, which was pretty awesome.

Continues to be good my man! I’m not sure if the “section changing voice over guy” is just a bit too loud, or if it’s my earphones.
Still too loud, Tony Ferron ? Dang, I dropped the levels on those a bit. I’ll drop them again next time. Thanks for the feedback!
To be fair my earphones are specially designed for music so perhaps they pick up the change in voice and think it’s a verse or something kicking in and it automatically heightens it. I’d check around first before you do anything drastic.
what interesting earphones, Tony Ferron. Thanks again for the feedback. I do have a person who helps with QC after I finish editing, but I’ll check some other folks, too, and re-listen to those transitions.
Tony’s earphones [lux, hi-tech, psi, worn] take +1 weird when listening to podcasts.
I like the content, so I didn’t want to mention it, but I hear those audio spikes as well through my home speakers (stereo)
great episode! and interview of Mark Truman
Thanks for the feedback, Mark Cleveland Massengale. I just released a new episode last night with Threadbare. I think the levels are better there, but would love a second / third opinion.

here you go, Mark Cleveland Massengale :

Agreed, the transitions are definitely a lot smoother in that one. Liberal compression or EQing down the middle frequency on those transition clips are probably in order if you want to improve it further, but it’s already a clear improvement
hey Mark Cleveland Massengale, I don’t know how to EQ down the middle frequency with Audacity. Would you be interested in showing me? I’m always eager to improve my skills.
I know exactly how to do it with the compressor interface in Ableton or Pro Tools. While Audacity is not my forte, audio kind of is, so yea I can help and I am down
I am pretty sure I found the solution to flattening the mids, and I don’t think its the compressor for Audacity – since the interface doesnt appear to have selective controls for certain frequencies. However, the de-esser is a compressor for particular frequencies: and while it usually targets high frequencies, unless the built in one is restrictive, it could probably be tuned to a more middle frequency.. and then applied to those transition clips.
if this baffled you (or just plain doesn’t work), let me know. I am willing to spend some time Actually showing you if need be
