Hey guys two quick rules related questions.
1. The Driver move Daredevil Reads: When you drive straight into danger without hedging your bets, you get +1 armour. If you take one or more harm, mark experience.
I wanted to know two things. First does that Armour count as an additional armor or is it a baseline 1? Like If my character is already wearing an armored leather Jacket would he be at 2 Armour when taking this move and not hedging his bets. I think he would be but wanted to confirm. Secondly, can this move trigger more than once a session/mission? If my character takes damage let’s say from pistol fire in the beginning and later takes shrapnel near the end would he mark both?
2. With things that your character takes as gear such as Trauma Derms/Grenades does your character have unlimited access to them? Like the game is primarily focused around the fiction so unless your guy just loves grenades it might be odd that he brings 15 plus grenades on every mission but who knows. Maybe it would make sense for him to bring 3 but always has access to more grenades back at his house/homebase? Also I have to imagine the Trauma Derms are meant to be a multiple use item as it would be a not so great option compared to the armor and what not if it was one time use. Some clarification would be great.
I haven’t looked that closely at the Gear section so I can’t really answer your second question.
But as for your first question, yes. The armor stacks with any other armor the Driver is wearing, which is why it’s written as “you get +1 armor” and not “you get 1 armor”.
For the XP marking bit of the move, it triggers each time you take one or more damage while driving straight into danger. So you could earn multiple XP per session for the move as long as you drove headfirst into danger without hedging your bets multiple times per session.
Awesome and thanks so much. As I play a pretty cocky and reckless guy that would be super helpful. Now all I need is for someone to help me with the other one.
On the second question, the standard rule for things like this is that they last until the MC makes a move to take them away. The MC might make a soft move first to tell you that they’re running low and you only have one/two/a few left. Or they might make a hard move and have you reach for one and come up empty.
The +1 armor is for the individual, correct? Not the vehicle?
Technically, vehicles don’t have harm clocks, and armour is only relevant if harm is being thrown around, so yes, the +1 armour to for the individual.
If you’re adding harm clocks to vehicles, you could apply that armour to the vehicle as well, or only to the vehicle. That’s a fruitful space for hacking and custom moves.
I never really considered that vehicles don’t have harm clocks. The +armor the vehicle gets during profile creation would normally apply to everyone inside I would think.
Whether the armour applies to passengers is probably a question for the Driver! A safe driver who cares about their passengers or a Deathproof style thrill-seeker?
