Hi, I was wondering if there is a pbta with MC Moves about the opening and closing of scenes.
Vanilla AW has not a clear and cut scene system like other games so… is there anything around about it?

Hmm, that’s an interesting concept. Are you suggesting ending a scene as a hard move?
If scene framing moves existed, when or how would you use them? Seems like they would only be snowball moves for use after you cut a scene.

Aaron Griffin I’m toying, without the real pretence to go anywhere, with a pet project of mine.
Since one of the core principles is always a variation of “make the lives of the pc interesting” it stands to reason that there are “framing moves” to put the pc where there is something interesting to be with and to close a scene when it’s expired or when the pc are dragging it around and there is no good way of introducing elements to spice it up…
If you think about it “Announce future badness/offscreen badness” is something similar as is draws attention to another scene, in the future or someplace else but it’s not quite the same thing.
It’s clearly some design choice by Vincent, I wonder why he choose that: it’s maybe to not break the suspension of believe like in address the players?
So thinking a bit, you could easily broaden “separate them”, “capture someone”, and “put someone in a spot” to be scene framing moves. I mean “Clink, you’re inside Dremmer’s RV, hands and feet duct taped” is already possible with existing moves.
You can also use “announce off-screen badness”, “announce future badness”, and “take away their stuff” to frame cut scenes and interludes with no characters present, if you wanted to do such things.
So really we just need something like: End the scene, with or without the outcome known
