So, what’s the dragon equivalent of “mommy” or “daddy”? The little hatchlings talking about their “parent” in tonight’s game didn’t sound right.

Drammy?
Sire and Dame?
Well, that is a very interesting question. The first question you have to ask is where do eggs come from. Once your players decide that, then you can start asking about the really important questions.
Here’s a thought: ‘mama’ is a word that’s common across a lot of languages because ‘ma’ is pretty much the easiest syllable to form; so, it’s one of the first sounds a baby is likely to make and it makes sense to associate that sound with one of the parents. Dada is similarly easy.
So, assuming you don’t want to just use mommy and daddy, think about what sounds are easy for dragons to make and craft your equivalents from there.
Mind you, I don’t know what sounds are easy for dragons to make. Do they hiss? Do they use their teeth more than their lips?
“Ma” is not a simple/easy syllable if you lack lips, as reptiles do.
I’d personally go with something further back in the throat, or something that uses teeth, like “Ka” or “Ta,” or a sibilant, if I were trying to get a draconic form of familial address.
Or, just say that you’re playing “in translation” from Draconic.
Ka’ta sounds like a cute yet respectful form of address. Shortened to ‘Ta’ when alone, or if the dragon is very young.
