Going to be running my first urban shadows in a couple of weeks for Halloween, which is also my first powered by the apocalypse. Little nervous trying to run it as I am use to old school adventures. Any tips or examples of one shots that might help?

So the one thing that is tough going from old school adventures to Urban Shadows is that the players are going to tell you what the adventures are going to start out being when they tell you what they desperately need – and, if they are used to old school adventures, they may be somewhat shocked when you serve up what they desperately need as bait in a bear trap. In old school adventures, the needs of the characters are not that relevant to the opportunities they will pursue. In Urban Shadows, they are crucial – even Storms only work as the environment in which the characters race towards their needs.
Not Urban Shadows specifically but the following YouTube channel has numerous PbtA games including Masks, Legend of the Elements and Mobster of the Week.

Jason Corley nailed it. PbtA games work best with pro-active players who are interested in their own shit. You may have had similar in old school games – the thief who abandons the party to go steal something in the next room, or the paladin who charges the steps of the church to demand they stop their vile practices. You may have even discouraged that behavior – splitting the party could have terrible consequences.
PbtA games encourage that, and more.
Good advice so far. In pbta in general, I find the being the MC is a bit like fishing. You set out some tempting hooks and see who bites where. I have less experience with urban shadows, but the xp system forces people to interact with all the factions, you get some great opportunities to pull everyone back together.
