Greetings, o’ spandex acolytes of the Squared Circle.

This weekend, whilst at the monthly London Indie RPG Meetup (http://www.londonindierpg.com) I was kindly gifted a pristine hardcopy of World Wide Wrestling on the proviso that I learn the game and offer to run it for interested gamers at a future IndieMeet.

I’m reading through the game right now (and also listening to Nathan Paoletta’s Journeyman Cup AP series on Youtube) and I’m already really excited to run it. Although I consider myself a very casual wrestling fan, my favourite aspect of wrestling is the inherent dramatic conflict between a wrestler’s in-ring persona and their real life (highlighted in movies such as Beyond The Mat and Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler), and I love how World Wide Wrestling facilitates this kind of drama at the table.

I’ll probably be running this game as a one-shot for experienced storygamers who have no more than a passing familiarity with the world of Professional Wrestling. Does anyone have any advice on how to bring out the backstage real-life pathos & drama in a one-shot game?

Cheers,

Paul.
