Hi guys.
Does anyone have an horror story in The Sprawl?
I’m thinking about a 2-part session. The first one is the usual get info/people/research/etc about a virus.
The second will be more horror oriented. The players will get to the source of the virus: a cabin in the woods (evil dead feelings).
And below it a huge lab… where something (or someone) went bad.
But I’m trying to put more horror and uneasiness in this session. Could someone help?
Thanks!
Tension is key to horror. That’s what makes Dread such a good game. The key to increasing tension in The Sprawl are the clocks, take advantage.
Have clocks that just say “???” and a clock that says “It arrives” and a clock that says “PC Infection.” Whatever feels appropriate for the specific scenario.
Seems like the rules for Threats in Chapter 9 could be used to establish the horror outside of the corporations.
Oh I remembered another tip that may help. Austin Walker used this technique in Friends at the Table. He used the mission directive: “If each of you survive the mission, mark experience.” Use your mission directives to instill a sense of fear.
When you ask your questions without looking at its face, mark experience.
When you perforate the dimensional line to contact Malphas, mark experience.
When you finally fathom the ungodly nature of the transformation, mark experience.

My girlfriend introduced me to this cyberpunk horror story. Hope it helps.
