I’m toying with the idea of a character who’s trying to be a hero despite being the apprentice/heir/child (haven’t decided yet) of a super villain. If I want their villainous predecessor to be a big part of their story, what’s the right playbook for that? Can the Legacy’s lineage or Protege’s mentor be villainous?

  1. Technically nothing stops you from using Protege or Legacy as written. Might need to rename a couple of moves, (Heroic Tradition becomes Villainous Tradition) but it seems fine. You might want to do Delinquent, or even Janus.

Imagine-your parent is a super villain, but they don’t know you are a superhero. Maybe they don’t know you know they are a villain! So you have another reason to hide your identity-you don’t want dad/mum to know the real reason you’ve been skipping chores! Lots of possibility there.

  2. T. Franzke Worked for Raven from Teen Titans. Her father was a dimension threathening evil, and was always trying to turn her into a vessel for his power.

You could try that with your Doomed-maybe mum or dad wants you to grow stronger in your powers, as they wait for it overflow, so it can empower them-or destroy the world!

  3. T. Franzke Chirag Asnani The Nemesis is supposed to have things going on around the Doomed a lot, so seeing them every evening for dinner could work. But you may need to tweak a thing or two to work them as a parent (with tweaks the nemesis can be pretty flexible, I played one where the Nemesis was their Id).
