Question: More out of an Idea that I am having…
Has anyone thought of making straight mortals then playing through them “turning?” I mean have them through out game play adapt their Monsterous playbooks?

I’d be concerned that there’s nothing to a character until they have a playbook, as it’s all there.
No, I haven’t. Sounds a good idea though. Maybe each player’s choice of playbook could be secret, so that even their fellow players don’t know what they’re becoming until a big reveal.
Remember, the Mortal is a very specific sort of Monster too. Having everyone play the mortal and then change to a monsterous playbook part way through the game ignores the core conceit that makes the game tick: Each monster is a metaphor for a teenager who acts in a specific way.
Try using the playbooks but creating your characters so they’ve just been turned and don’t even realize they’re monsters. I had a very successful Werewolf character that did this, but I think most of the skins would support that sort of play.
I get that, when I re-read the skins-playbooks, I noticed that each game has its skins, playbooks, etc that are specific to the setting, so I don’t want to jepordize its integrity.
The group ended up going with Urban Shadows over Monsterhearts, but it was definitley some fun stuff.
