Hi the softcover version come to Czech republick too its pretty cool and i am happy to find a group to play with. But i have one little question. Why they are not play books at the core book ( i mean in a form as they are in pdf file Mask-playbooks) its only 20 pages and the whole book is really missing without it (yeah you can print it tho) but still to tak about abilities(special moves and all what is detaily descibet in core.) and have a need to look elsewhere (to know what abilities are what are the whole moves what is you character moment of truth …) is kind of bad.
Maybe its only mine fealing about that and other than that the book is quite of awasome and easy to understand even if english is not our born laguages
Jakub, I agree with you that for a printed “Powered by the Apocalypse” game, the playbooks should be printed in the core book. Magpie has said (to my understanding) that to balance their book size with the content, they chose to not include the playbooks, in favor of other content. So the playbooks are only available as a downloadable .pdf.
They of course are entitled to do whatever they want, but I of course am entitled to feel it was a bad decision, and to plead with any designer that may be reading this to never make the same decision when it comes to any PbtA game they may choose to offer in printed form in the future.
Yeah for me it feals like if in dnd you will have acces to describtion of spells on playerbook but dont have acces to know how many spell slot you have and what spells you can choose from in same book. Well yeah the argument of size can maybe matter but is the 20 really diference when you make a book containt of hundrets of pages? The playbooks can be realy added as in the end of the book to make easy acces…
As you i also hope that if any desinger reads that will choose to add whole you need to play to printed book.
Hey Jacub! Yes, we did choose to leave out the playbooks, but we are listening to feedback. You can find the playbooks here (http://www.magpiegames.com/masks/masks-playbooks-moves/), and please let me know if there’s anything else you need. 🙂
