Hey!

Hey!

Hey!

Had a question regarding changing archetypes. It’s not specified in the advancement section but what happens with a persons corruption moves and the amount of corruption the character has? Right now I’m thinking you keep the corruption and the corruption moves (or pick a new one if the old one doesn’t make sense).

For instance we have a Tainted changing into to Veteran and he has the corruption move to change into Demon form with all the benefits but when he becomes a veteran he will have severed his contract with his patron thus making turning into a demon impossible.

What do you guys think?

  1. I’d keep the ones that make sense, and the ones that don’t make sense, take similar moves from the new Archetype.

That is: you keep the same corruption advances for the new archetype, but keep the moves that are the core of what the Tainted truely IS now that they’ve cast off their demon mantle.

  2. You keep them all. Page 178:

    “Changing Archetypes and Corruption

Note that changing your Archetype through advancement doesn’t delay this choice. Whenever you change Archetypes, everything essential to the character comes with you, including your existing corruption advances. You get to keep the corruption moves you’ve already gained, and you must mark off the same number of corruption advances on your new Archetype. If you want to get rid of corruption, you have to use up an advance erasing a corruption advance.”

  3. I read it as saying that you keep everything because corruption is by definition essential to the character, which I personally buy. But sure, rule zero. Just giving the RAW perspective.
