In my upcoming session of Apocalypse World, a few of the players have ended up in a gladiator type game scenario to settle differences and to boost town moral. This what the Hard Holder player and I have come up with for the random weapons the players will find in their armories. The idea is they will draw a key to a corresponding chest with a random goodie inside. A little something I wanted to share. Enjoy.

You don’t have the doc set for public viewing, but from the front page, the weapons don’t feel apocalypse-y. They all seem appropriate for a vollesium fight, which is where my reaction cones from, how do they have access to weapons suited to Roman gladiators. I think you can apocalypse it up with a few changes. Instead of a club, there’s a stop sign. Instead of a knife, a jagged shiv with a rag handle. Instead of knuckles, there’s a hockey glove with nails sticking out of it.
Those are excellent points. And to explain the idea was through the complication and traits we would then in fiction describe how the weapon is. For example if you rolled knife but it was hazardous, sharp and brittle then the MC could describe it as a rusted shiv. Does that make sense? We were trying to come up with an easier way to make a wide array but to have some narrative fun with it.
