Hey there, new player here looking to make a go of Masks.

Hey there, new player here looking to make a go of Masks. I’m casually familiar with the basics but never played; both of my last attempts to join groups fizzled out. (Just today I watched a group implode as the GM and his friend got into a fight – cursing and screaming at each other – all before introductions were even finished). As one might imagine, I’m looking for a more positive experience with the system (keeping all the angst between the characters and the over-the-top villain, as it were).

I’m in PST, looking for a weekly group for Friday evening or Sat/Sun early morning (done before 11am) if possible. I’m familiar with Discord and Roll20 setups. Probably aiming to roll a Delinquent (since I’ve got the same unused one leftover from both previous non-starter campaigns).

Only real deal-breaker for me is maturity (after today’s experience anyway). I’m happy to play a silly, off-the-cuff, irreverent style game (no issue with smack-talk between characters), but it’s no fun if the players themselves are constantly rude to each other and/or flaking out at the last minute.

Anyway sorry to ramble on… Here’s to hoping the right group is out there for me somewhere! 😉

  1. Wow… That’s an extremely unfortunate experience, even among the online community where unfortunate experiences and non-starters aren’t that uncommon.

It bothers me a bit that “a basic level of maturity” is now something people have to state as an explicit requirement. I sincerely hope you find what you’re looking for.

  2. The Biggest issue ive had is just player retention, people say they are reliable, but then they end up dropping/unable to make the time….and group ends up 2-3 people with GM ending up calling it since the storylines/Arc being built up just fall apart.

Though yeah if anyone ends up running on at that time id love to be a part of it, really looking for a good long term game to develop a character over the course of it.
