Is there guidance anywhere on the Schemes mechanic of the Immortal?
The Archetype sheets themselves lack the mechanic for advancing schemes, though it discusses a move that presumably has a role in advancing them.
It also lists Interruptions that can occur, but not the manner in which they would occur and their effect upon the scheme affected.
It seems something is simply missing. It isn’t a self-sufficient explanation.
Was there an intermediate step between the Kickstarter version of the Immortal and the current one that I could crib mechanics from?
I have a player who would be very interested in playing one once her Wizard goes out in a blaze of glory, but neither of us can make sense of the sidebar, and schemes got added after my old Immortal from 2.0 playtesting.

Pawel Solowczuk I have no idea! I’m a backer.

We haven’t released the Immortal outside of the Kickstarter, so it’s still missing a few things. In short:
– Schemes are supposed to be long-running plans that the character put into play before they entered play. You’re immortal!
– Interruptions are chosen one time, at character creation. What are the things that made you rejoin daily politics instead of staying above it all in your fancy tower?
– The MC should create a countdown clock for each Scheme, advancing it when the Immortal has moved the scheme forward. Ideally, the countdown clock should help the MC figure out what kinds of opportunities to present and how far along the scheme is at this point.
Is that helpful?

Mark Diaz Truman Yes, it is. Thank you!
So the Immortal moves a scheme forward by:
a) taking advantage of the opportunities given by their opening move; and
b) focusing on it during play, independent of their opening move?
A threat countdown where the player is the threat, in other words?

Yes, yes, and yes! The idea is that the Immortal can set out to accomplish a long-term goal within the context of the story on their terms instead of as a result of other countdown clocks.
