DrivethruRPG update went live. It’ll be the last one most likely, as we are gearing up to do the print run. From the last update, the most noticeable change is a lot more art. A new cover and 12 more pieces of art where the little playbooks were, which didn’t help at all. Instead, I made those steps in the order they appear on the playbook and added full-page spreads.
Additionally, The Empath’s Charge Object is refined, The Wayward’s playbook, in general, is more intuitive, Anchors in particular. More language has been peppered throughout to help people out, more links to page XX where needed.
I can’t wait for the print run, which will be happening along with Cascade!!

What’s the difference between the first and second printings again? And yes, new cover is awesome 🙂
The second printing has a few of the moves streamlined. Terms are capitalized. Grammar, punctuation, etc. Are improved. 12 new pieces of art. A new cover. More language added throughout based on what people have asked me the most about at this community.
Just a better presentation of first printing. Mechanically the streamlined moves do the same thing in the fiction. The Empath was changed up so people could play it in a variety of ways. Girl was changed to Obligation so people don’t default to an Asian setting. Other than The Empath tweak and that name change, functionally it’s the same game.
Fraser Simons do the Empath changes address some of the issues that cropped up in FatT with it around consent?
Sean DMR Yep! Actually, Austin came up with some of the changes with me when we were brainstorming. You’re no longer restricted to just Absorbing to get Flow. There’s a section on consent directly, too. And a couple of the moves are more elegant and precise in their wording as well.

I picked up my copy of the Veil directly from IPR (I missed out on the original Kickstarter). My purchase also included a PDF copy. Do you know if IPR will also get the updated PDF version? Or is the update only available from DrivethroughRPG?
Yep, we will update IPR as well as the bricks and Mortar PDF. Those ones just take longer. If you purchased The Veil at all, you’ll get the digital file for the second printing, 100%!
The only copies of first printing left are the 49 at IPR right now, actually. And it’s probably less than that. Their inventory seems to update every month or two, I’m not sure how often.
that new cover is absolutely amazing. Just lovely. It invokes the kinds of feelings I have about the game when running it or reading it.
