A Question for Vincent (and everyone else) A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing ~ PBTA & the Gamist Creative Agenda…
Hasn’t the Gamist-Narrativist-Simulationist dichotomy largely fallen out of favor?
Cue Jason Corley “Apocalypse World is a totally normal RPG”
What RPGs are abnormal?
Pedro Pereira “normal” in the sense that AW plays in a very traditional “GM runs the world, Players run PCs” model.
Hi!
I think it’s simply incorrect to try to identify PbtA at large with any particular creative agenda(s). Apocalypse World came out of the Narrativist design movement, but each individual designer makes their own creative decisions, design by design.
My own subsequent PbtA games are some Narrativist, some Gamist, one Simulationist, for instance.
Vincent Baker Which one is Simulationist? I still find GNS interesting, at least on a personal level, and I’m curious as to how others use those categories for their own works.
