Hi!

Hi!

Hi!

My question might be strange for you without some context, so I’m going to address this very briefly so that this doesn’t become a loooong post.

So, I’m completely blind, and I use the computer with applications called screen readers. I can read ePubs perfectly, PDFs not so much, and images I can’t read at all.

That’s why I have a few questions that arise from not being able to see how a character sheet is laid out:

– How should a player choose an advancement? Should they just choose the advancement on their character sheet from one to the next, or they can choose whichever they want in whichever order? For example, can a vamp “Choose a move from another archetype” at the beginning of the first session, or would she have to go through +1 blood, +1 heart, and so on?

– The same with the “After 5 advancements you may select” block: can the vamp just retire her character to safety the first time, or does she have to go through the first 7 advancements first?

– How many corruptions should you mark in order to get a corruption advance? Is it four boxes, like the four factions?

Thanks!

  1. Great questions. You can choose any advance in the sections you have access to, in the order of your choosing.

A character gains a corruption advance after marking corruption five times, unlike normal advances.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  2. Andrew Medeiros Perfect, thanks! Does what you said about advancements being chosen in any order apply to corruption advancements as well? In other words, can the player of the vamp retire her character as her very first corruption advancement?

That reminds me of another question, though. Can each advancement, normal or corruption, be chosen just once? I’m guessing it’s this way because I see multiple advancements that are the same (e.g. the vamp has “Get a corruption move” 4 times in the character sheet). Does this mean that after getting 4 corruption moves, the 5th corruption will force her to retire and maybe come back as a threat? As another example, if the vamp’s player chooses “+1 Blood”, does she have to wait until she has 5 advancements in total to be able to get a +1 to Blood again (I’m saying 5 advancements in total, because one of the options in the “After 5 advances you may select” section is “+1 to any stat”)?

Thanks for the quick reply, by the way! 🙂

  3. Corruption advances can be chosen in any order as well. You can only select each advancement once; that applies to normal and corruption advances. And yes, your 5th corruption advance forces you to retire your character. The “After 5 advances” column are simply added to your options once you’ve reach 5, there’s no other restriction on choosing them or parallel options fro the other list.

  4. Hey Parham ! As a (useless) clarification : what your screen reader apparently doesn’t tell you is that in front of each advancement there’s a little box that you’re supposed to tick when you pick it, so that you know how many you’ve already taken, and which ones. Some things would have probably been clearer if you’d been aware of these boxes.

it’s sad readers are having problems with pdf, and it’s a good thing that epubs are becoming more present !

  5. Parham Doustdar Oh then I’m glad ! It just suddenly clicked in my head “oh wait, that’s where the confusion comes from !” I just didn’t think it would change anything to tell you but, you’re welcome 🙂
