I’ve only recently discovered the game and really like some of the ideas it has, looking to run it soon. Shame this place slowed to a crawl.
Cody FromSideThree The Game has been around for some time now. Most questions have already been asked and answered.
It’s on my ‘to-play’ list for a solo project, but to be honest, I have a huge back log of titles on that list as well. 🙂
When my Masks group’s characters all grow up into adults we’ll be cutting forward a couple years and switching games to WiP. I’m pretty excited for it, but it’s at least another six months away.
I run a bi-weekly game of WiP for five characters. Converted over from M&M because I felt the crunch of M&M was too restrictive and liked the more freeform narrative style of WiP (and Masks’ theme is incompatible with our group of established adult superheroes).
I’m liking WiP, but it’s difficult getting player buy-in for working towards Drive books/moves as the only way to gain Advancement Points. The players feel like they’re not making any (mechanical) progress with their characters. I’m thinking about house-ruling it so that they gain a minimum amount of AP on completing missions (like M&M), at the very least.
Michael Kennedy i think the same thing about it. I changed the way how players makes progress. i let them open playbooks like always, but not for gain xp. Comic book story tropes is to vast, and exp is a retroactive way to reward players for having a especific behavior in game. So i decided to look for the game theme, and just pick some other pbta`s progress move that fits better.
Rafael Farner Which one?
Alpo _ it depends who i playing with, the trope, the mood. if we are playing a classic four color comic trope story, i use DW progress move, just taking some adds and cuts. it means things like Conan, classic marvel comics, and so on… the progress in worlds in peril is to bad for me. the players must be doing especific actions in fiction to mark progress, this is good in some way. but at the same time makes players have different amount of progress. Some moves are more often and easy avaiable to be opened than others. This is unfair. asaid this, buy powers with progress is a waste of time, my players always do the push move to add things in power profile, The progress is more usefull to improve stats. Instead of the standard approach i allow players to use progress to open the drivebook moves, sounds more reasonable for me.
