So, what is the world like outside of your Halcyon City? Is it straight up real world Earth (which some supers coloring)? Do you use expy nations like Biyalya and Sokovia? Or do you do a straight up fictional world?
I’m playing a highly “Young Justice” inspired game (with bits of Xaviers Academy and Hogwarts), so I was thinking of using expys like Relasia… but it feels a little silly to me and, since I don’t have any real life nations that are going to care about what goes on in my game, I’m thinking of going with a more Warren Ellis Planetary/Authority approach (real world places with supers-inspired historical changes.)
We have the city of Ravenhom outside of Halcyon City, which is like Gotham to Metropolis. Haven’t felt the need to go further yet.
Our home city (Capstone City) has a fraught relationship with the secretive nation of Darkhavia, as the ruler of Darkhavia, Baron Devastation, was the nemesis of Capstone City’s greatest hero, Captain Invincible. The team of PCs have gotten increasingly entangled with Darkhavia, and one of the most recent adventures was a rescue mission into the dungeons of Castle Devastation to save the Beacon. It’s fun watching the team try to deal with Darkhavia without causing an international incident!
We’ve had The Hive. An alien starship crashed at the US Mexico border. Diplomatic relations, both terran and exo, left the site in legal limbo. It is know used as a kind of black market site by various villain groups.
In our world Halcyon city is like an state city, in somewhere between EEUU and Iceland. The world is the same but with supers all around, Halcyon is the epicenter of the super activity but there is a lot of super teams for every city and countries, the Liber Forces is an world selection of the best supers and had global operation. The exemplars are the main group of Halcyon and AEGIS is at this moment a global agency. There is criminal organizations from all the corners of the earth and far space
My Innocent character in an online game is from the Carribean nation of Isla Tormentosa. Its two main exports are baseball players and super villains. Fake nations like Ruritania can be convenient because you can put all the cultural tropes in one basket, so to speak, just as Wakanda in the MCU is Pan-African.
Daniel Krashin I play Quicksilver in that game (waves).
