Hi, all! I’m going to run a Monster of the Week campaign starting this Fall. I’ve run the MotW system before and I think it will lend itself well to the first part of the campaign. The setting will be somewhat urban, there will be a regular stream of big-bads for the Hunters to deal with, and the fiction is ripe for the players and me to co-construct the world and mythos. However, there will eventually come a time when the Hunters must “go beyond the wall,” as it will be, and leave the urban setting behind.
I’m not sure how to run a MotW campaign in a “journey through the unknown” setting. I had even considered switching systems for the second part! But I suspect I can supplement MotW with some custom player and keeper moves.
Has anyone run MotW campaign outside a consistent setting? Any ideas for adapting the system with new moves and mechanics?
Thanks!
I’ve taken this discussion over to R/Monstreroftheweek, the title is “Going Beyond the Wall.” In the comments, I explain a little bit more about my dilemma. I’ll still check back here if someone does have any thoughts (I check here all the time for new ideas!). Thanks!
