When everyone looked over the Unbound supplement what powers or abilities did you attribute to the hero pictured front and center here?
I love this artwork and I’m interested to know how everyone else interpreted this hero when they saw them.

Some kind of cosmic/psychic power. The feeling is kinda knives/ribbons.
Leah Libresco I definitely got some similar vibes.
As a related note, I feel like “lethal” equipment and powers, like swords and similar gear, have an interesting place in Masks. They feel almost out of place, but I like the inherent conflict they add to the game when heroes have to consider when their actions would do more “violent” harm to villains.
Yeah, Grant Scowden, I agree on lethality. I played a Beacon at a Pax oneshot and picked swords, but specified hooked swords (like Jet in Avatar), because I wanted to use them for yanking or tripping, not for slashing or stabbing.
(Ultimately, this was not too relevant, since I kept whiffing my rolls, and got kidnapped!)
Maybe the ribbons are some sort of nanotech controlled with an interface built into the glasses.
To me the three dots on the ribbon’s spike resemble eyes, so that makes me see it as some kind of entity the hero is bonded to. A sentient shapeshifting weapon would be my first guess, and I think this hero is the Protege with the weapon itself as their mentor (would that work?)
Whoa, love that gonzo take on a Protege mentor, Sebastian Baker
Leah Libresco Thanks! It could even tie into the lethality thing you were talking about, if the mentor-weapon is more willing to kill than the Protege themself.
I think the figure is using ferrokinesis i.e. psychic control of metal.
Paper control.
Because of the little bit on the cheek, I assumed it was a witchblade like weapon. And when they’re not fighting it lays across the skin like a tattoo, so right now it’s getting in a “ready” position.
And that was the last time anyone ever made fun of me for my power to control ribbons…
