So I was just doing some prep and I noticed that I’ve somehow lost my copy of the Hoarder. I’ll trade any of the LE books, including The Solace, for a copy.

The solace isn’t up there, and shouldn’t be, IMO.
I’m not surprised nobody reads this thing, but the very first item on the list is this:
“the Limited Edition Playbooks (the Touchstone, the Quarantine, the Maestro D’, the Faceless, the Marmot, the Hoarder, the Solace) – if you bought Apocalypse World then you should already have these, if you bought the game and you don’t have them you can email Vincent for access to the copies: lumpley AT gmail”
He gives them to anybody who asks for a copy.
Oh, yeah. I know.
Anyone who doesn’t have it want to trade a Hoarder for a Solace?
facepalm
The Hoarder shouldn’t be up there as well, but then by that rational you shouldn’t be trading for it either.
Thanks, folks. Successful trade.
Patrick Henry Downs , the LE playbooks initially were only released for specific things from what I recall (being at a particular con, buying the game a specific time, ect.). Initially you were supposed to trade playbooks for ones your missing, that was part of the fun. This is just carrying on the tradition.
Oh yeah David Rothfeder I am totally aware of that idiotic tradition.

Well if you don’t like it, don’t participate in it. No need to harp on those who like connecting with new people.
All I did was provide information. As far as I’m concerned you’re harping on me for expressing my opinion in a post I linked to. I’ve heard from more people who don’t like trading than I have from people who keep trying to keep this elitist self-defeating “tradition” alive.
Why do you need to call the tradition ‘idiotic’. Gaming is about doing what you find fun. There’s no need to tell somebody their wrong for how they want to have fun as long as their not hurting anybody. There are plenty of traditions in the world that are done by a minority. Just because I don’t celebrate Hanukkah doesn’t mean I’ll tell somebody who does that it’s dumb to light candles.
Post locked. Thanks, everyone!
Guys, trading is cool. Giving is better. In a perfect world you should
give without an expectation of anything in return
Because that’s my opinion. Read the link and you’ll see the whole debate, and at the end I say I’m never going to stop calling it idiotic until somebody convinces me it’s not. If you’re having fun, fine. But when I share information and I get lectured about what a fine tradition trading playbooks is that is basically inviting my opinion to enter the discussion.
And I don’t know anybody who celebrates Hanukkah and goes around telling people about how great it is and that they should celebrate it as well. But I do know people who point out the pagan origins of Christmas when somebody decries the loss of Christmas traditions from American culture.
Nobody here said you have to trade. You came into a post about trading books complaining how it was wrong.
