Just for funzies, I printed off every trifold playbook for Apocalypse World and took a picture of them.

Just for funzies, I printed off every trifold playbook for Apocalypse World and took a picture of them. There are technically 50 playbooks, 11 are official and come with the game, 8 are limited edition extras, and 31 are player-made. Of those 31 made by players, 5 are the Heralds of Hell, 2 are joke playbooks, 2 are just alternate covers, and 7 of them (not including the Heralds or limited edition extras) make assumptions about how weird of a game you’re going to have.

  1. Extended playbooks? I don’t think of them as playbooks really, they’re extensions or alternate paths of existing playbooks.

Don’t worry Tim Franzke , I’m currently putting together a supplemental trifold for the Mysteries + Walkingsuit per Vincent’s instructions.

  2. Marshall Miller she says that “ugly mugs on those playbooks are enough to turn her off” also she doesn’t get how someone can want to play post-apocalypse.

  3. I did layout for the Kid, Ruin Runner, Tribal (female version) and Turncoat (the only playbook I actually wrote). It’s awesome seeing them represented here! Thanks for doing this!

(Also, seeing them like this reinforces my belief that the art for the Turncoat turned out better than the other three.)

  4. Markus Öhman I think you formatted the Shieldbearer for letter-size paper. I printed it onto legal-sized paper twice with different settings and I got huge margins like that both times.

  5. This looks very cool…

    …50 playbooks? O.o

Hard to imagine needing to double up in a game now!

There are a few concepts I haven’t seen yet, but I think they can all be covered with hybrids…

The Warlord —A Hardholder Extension… something a little like The Mendicant perhaps… (President Monroe or Governor Affleck)

The Voice — a bit of a cross between The Skinner, The Radio, and The Spectacle… (Three Dog or John Henry Eden)
