I played my first game of The Sundered Land last night, with Stuart McDermid and Joe Sweeney. We played Caravans and it was great. We each had a turn of being the hazard player, which worked really well. We should be playing Night Watch in a fortnight, which I’m really looking forward to.
Two things:
1 – This was the first game I’ve played where the GM responsibilities are shared or passed around. It worked so well and felt so natural, it makes me wonder why I haven’t been doing it for years.
2 – I come from a very trad, nineties type gaming background, where the word NO is a big part of the GMs toolbox. Playing with these guys, I don’t think I’ve heard it used once. I think that’s a big part of why we seem to get so much more DONE in these games. I love it!
ps I still love the trad games I play with my older group, but I’m really glad I get to scratch a different itch now.
Cool!
night watch is so fucking good. it’s even good to stick in the middle of other games when, y’know, all the characters are sitting around for awhile.
