I think it should work okay as is. Just stick to the Laundry style of magic as algorithms when you are describing things and go for it.
The books certainly have the right structure:
1 – Problem!
2 – Find out stuff and work out how to defeat the monster/evil cultist.
3 – Last big action scene to save the day.
I’d like to see if someone comes up with a good BLUE HADES or PHANG Monstrous, too.
On second thought, you might want to change use magic a bit, in particular to take account of the dire consequences of using it too much.
I think most of Bob’s spells fit some of the normal effects, and the ones that I can think of that go beyond them would be big magic anyhow.
I first though that magic might be a problem but further pondering I believe it’s ok. Smartphone/computer/electronic requirements and its all good.
So, the Warrant Card, special move, Manipulate Someone, Use Magic, or …?
I’m guessing it’s likely situation dependant.
Hm… probably just a special move all the Laundry officers would get.
The warrant card can count as authority to do whatever you need, plus would also provide a reason for manipulating someone if needed.
I can’t recall if it just works in the UK – does it ever get used on (eg) foreign cops to get thiongs done?
