Hey everyone, I’m hoping to get some insight into Use Magic – this rpg.se question has an open bounty worth 100 reputation. Maybe someone from this group has an expert answer?

Also the Spell-slinger has access to some moves that make the normal Use Magic move a lot less hazardous.
John Henry Lamming remember that the extra requirements are optional – the Keeper might not require any, so saying that magic can never be used in a tight spot is incorrect.
Of course, hunters always know that they might be required to do some of those things, but the details will depend on the fiction – the immediate situation in the game, the character, and the established rules of magic in your game’s world.
I also think that different characters have different affinities. Monsterous use magic for any of their weird senses, and it would be weird if the troll had to chant for that. My spell slinger can just prestigitate light with a few words, but my troll would need to work at it.
In my group, our Chosen was very magic oriented, so the house rule was that complex magic took time/resources/materials, but simple magic such as telekinesis or lightning bolts did not.
Also, we used simple ritual magic that anyone could learn, such as barring entrances with salt and such. We borrowed a lot from Supernatural and Dresden Files.
