The file unfolds before you like mobius oragami. Languidly spinning shapes resolve into names, faces, addresses, surveillance notes, analytics. A hovering cloud of intel beckoning you inside…

While the PoD layout is being finished, I’m working on a collection of Mission Files (a stretch goal which will go to backers first, then eventually be available on DTRPG as well). I’m taking the Mission Files as an opportunity to give more advice of creating and running missions. As well as being a mission framework in the style of The Kurosawa Extraction in the rulebook, each mission will expand and illustrate one or two concepts of general application to missions generally, and the low-prep style of play in particular. With that in mind, are there any topics you’d like to see expanded? Any concepts that you find unclear? Just want to see examples of a particular kind of mission?

  1. Well, a good start would be to read back through G+ posts here, and look at the kind of questions that have come up a few times, and maybe see about addressing those.

For example, I think we’ve had a few inquiries about the rules for running operations… how and when to use them. Similarly, we’ve had a couple of people ask about things like power armor and other such toys… not sure if that fits the theme of the Mission Files, but maybe some advice on such things could be incorporated into one of the missions (e.g if the mission were to involve stealing such a thing).

  2. I would love to see advice on running The Sprawl as a oneshot. I ran it 3 times as a oneshot and the setup seemed a little overbearing like it was more geared towards playing campaigns.

  3. In my old age I find it hard to get more than a couple of buddies to play games with me. I’d love to hear some suggestions on how to play with smaller groups, even with just a single PC. The PCs can certainly buy some hacker, driver, or killer support but there goes most of their credits for a mission.

  4. I’d also love to get some suggestions on how to get away from the mission structure for campaign play. It seems a lot of long term events might not fit the mission structure well. It might be as simple as still rolling ‘Get a job’ even when the ‘job’ is being hunted by a corp who’s clock maxed out or a character’s search for their long lost sister.
