Hello!

Hello!

Hello!

I just got the Sprawl, so I’m a total newb here. But I had a question…

I might be unclear about the use of Hold points.

Seems like Hold points can only be used only with the moves they came from? Also, are they only used to get answers to the questions on those moves, or can they be used for something else?

I’m playing solitaire and still figuring out which of the rules would pretty much only apply to group games.

Thanks, loving the game so far!

  1. Hi John! Yes, if a move tells you to “hold X” then that hold applies only to that move. Generally there is a list of options for spending that hold in the move and those are the only things you can do with it.

The difference between saying “pick 2 of these options” and “hold 2; spend hold to choose these options” is that picking options all has to be done at once before you move on with the story, but hold means you can hold on to some of the “hold” and make some selections later.

  2. You’re right that Hold is generally used with regard to the move that generated it. For example, the Soldier’s move I Love It When A Plan Comes Together allows the soldier to have Hold set aside that they can use during the mission to execute the specific actions described in that move.

Page 10 of the book has an official description of Hold as well.
