Looking at the basics of UW, it would lend well to a Cowboy Bebop setting.

Looking at the basics of UW, it would lend well to a Cowboy Bebop setting. Replace Jump Points with Hyperspace Gateways linking the planets, a more space opera feeling for tech, and I think you have the making for an interesting game. Would it need a couple of custom careers, or would the current set of careers and backgrounds work?

  1. Thanks Sean Gomes. If I were to develop it practically, I’d probably write some XP triggers for each musical style. Blues might have “Reminisce over a glass of bourbon,” or “Reunite with your ex (bitter or bittersweet).” Jazz might have “Attend a smoky bar,” or “Seduce or be seduced by the femme fatale.” Funk: “Engage in freestyle hand-to-hand combat.” Punk: “Stick it to the Man.” Heavy metal: “Assault a secure position,” or possibly “Have a lock-and-load montage.”

  2. Cowboy Bebop is great, some say the best, most stylish anime. As an introduction try episode #10 which introduces Radical Edward (a hacker girl).

Maybe some thought to re-tooling the game is needed just because the characters are so odd-ball.

  3. Toby Sennett Cowboy Bebop is not a character name. I’m not sure what it means but it may refer to all that “cowboy” jazz.

That’s Radical Edward in front and she’s staring at some screen.
