I uploaded three preview Careers from the upcoming Far beyond Humanity; the Arcane, the Chosen and the Devout. I had given a sneak-peek at them in my backer updates a while ago, but I put them in the proper template and gave them Workshops and descriptions and XP triggers and such.
Obviously this is all still very Alpha and subject to change (also the icon is just a placeholder, natch). I’d be interested in any impressions or feedback or requests for clarification or whatnot, if you guys have the chance.

Woot! And huzzah!
Really cool! Curious, under Arcane the description says, “Arcane Technocrats can rewrite both magic and code with equal ease.” But none of the abilities that can be selected seem to reference the “code” part. Is that covered in a different section of the supplement?
Jesse R note that the erase option of “Dispel” affects anything the character Accesses. Which means that when you Access a computer program you can Dispel it, and you can use Technocrat abilities to add conditions to spells that you Access, or lock other people out of the spell and gain control of it.
Justin Phillips What skill combo are you eyeing in Chosen Scoundrel?
Sean Gomes Ahhhh, gotcha. Shiny! 🙂
Will be uploading another preview tonight, but here’s a sneak peek.
OCCULT
• Necromancy: You can substitute flesh and bone in any skill that requires materials.
• Transmute: Your Patch Up can turn one type of matter into another. Larger Patch Up jobs require more time and more expensive reagents.
• Polymorph: Choose 3 Attire upgrades. Your gestures and incantations can painfully transform your body to temporarily gain one of those features until you stop concentrating. You can only have one Polymorph feature on your body at a time.
• Regeneration: You can perform Patch Up on yourself by concentrating for a few moments. The Patch Up uses +Physique rather than +Expertise. You never suffer scars, and lost limbs/damaged organs regrow by themselves in time.
• Entropy: With a touch and a forbidden word, you spread rot, rust, decay, dissolution or erosion, as appropriate to the material touched. Thin materials will succumb quickly, tougher materials may take hours or days.
Too cool! I think there’s a typo in Entropy – “With a touch hand forbidden word”
Hah. Yes indeed. Understandable typo though.
Totally 🙂
Oooh, interesting. Actually, you could combine the two ideas! A Privileged Chosen Scoundrel with Scapegoat, Addict, Ritual and Pact.
Requesting origins and career paths to use UW to play Roguetrader. Need a Explorator (tech-priest) with lots of cybertech. Navigator (psychic / warpspace navigator), origins to model: Ork freebooter, Eldar, Dark eldar, Kroot, Tau etc
Daniel Fors : Of course, I’ll try my best. I do have two restrictions, however.
1) The modelling must be generic enough to apply to more than just one setting.
2) I have to avoid being too close to actual copyrighted materials (I would appreciate not getting sued by Games Workshop)
That said, I don’t feel there is enough mechanical difference between human, ork, eldar, tau, kroot, etc, to warrant an Origin. What is an Ork, if not a humanoid that has an intensely Brutal or Crowded Origin (or maybe Impoverished, if ‘eez a bluddy grot). What is an Eldar, if not a humanoid of an Advanced, Privileged or Regimented (Aspect) Origin? Same question applies to the Tau (Galactic or Regimented) and the Kroot (Brutal or Frontier).
Now that’s not to say there won’t be “species” Origins in FBH. There will be. But those Origins will model things that aren’t simply civilized humanoids. (And yes, I know that Orks are fungal and would technically fall under the “Grown” Origin too, but eh, they’re civilized enough that they can have standard Origins)
You mentioned another update to be posted – did that happen?
Looks dope and can’t wait to see more careers/species stuff! I think the Chosen looks more powerful, but I never tested it, so it might just be fine. Either way, can’t wait to see what gets in and try them out!
Thanks Stephen Meriles . Got a couple new ones coming soon, but ended up spending time with the kiddo so I’m wiped out (So. Much. Energy). Soon though.
What part of the Chosen seems strongest to you? Or is it just in aggregate?
Alright, that sounds awesome and hey, best of luck with the kid!
Also, I’m looking at it now and it was really just Transfigure. It just looks more powerful than I thought at first read, and I think it looks pretty good after comparing it with other careers/assets. Thanks for responding, though (especially so fast)!
Holy cow, I just realised you could use the Summon skill to play a Pokemon trainer!!
