I need some help getting excited about the other Factions.

My current campaign is very heavy on the Wild; our current primary threat is a plot by the Summer Fae to burn down the city in a ritual to prolong their season, and the big twist last session was that they’re being aided by a Duke of Hell in this endeavor. I’ve introduced a mercenary werewolf into the mix, and last session the hunter reached out to a wizard for help, but overall this game is feeling very heavy on Wild players, and I feel guilty about it.

Does anyone have any tips for wrapping the other Factions into this better? I want everyone to have more chances to mark Faction, and I’m doing a poor job of it so far.

  1. Are you doing the start of session move? It’s a basic but very effective way to spotlight factions that haven’t been seen in a while, and if you use it to add more Threats to your Storms you’re more likely to keep things appropriately diverse.

I mean, I don’t use it every session, but I think of it like a TV show. Use the start of session move for feature of the week episodes, until you build up enough metaplot to focus on that for an episode or three. And use it any time you think things are getting stale, which it sounds like you think they are right now.

  2. Even if your plot is about wild, your player if they want to stop it, should still be in touch with other factions, hit the streets for items and info. While they are doing it they can put a face to a name with a new NPC in town who will start causing trouble soon or can be converted into an ally.

I also find more personal plots more fitting that ‘save the city because noone else cares’.

Through opening session move players can introduce personal plots, old enemies etc. When someone says that a nameless NPC was kidnapped, always give that NPC a name and ask your players if any of them have some stake to save that NPC is he someone’s friend, lover or ex-lover.
