I’m running a roll20 game of Urban Shadows, and I’m curious if there are some good options for NPC character management.

I want to create a “card” or record for each NPC and track all the usual stuff, name, faction, a picture, drive, debt and a few details.

roll20 “handouts” work okay, trello boards and cards work okay, but I’m looking for something that would help me more easily and effectively to manage 20 contacts or so.

Suggestions please!

  1. I’d use the handouts and the gm notes for stats. That way you can hit the “show to players” stuff with player facing info when then meet with the NPC.

  2. It dramatically improved my in-person game when I wrote 4 columns on a white board and listed all the NPC names by faction and identifier (e.g., under Night, “Zheng the vampire”). Color coding cards (like you describe) by faction would probably go a long way.

  3. I use handout in roll 20 as a list of NPCs with description then in GM section of handout I have NPCs drives.

I plan to create a separate handout to have NPCs with description and drive.

NPCs debts I keep on paper sheet and a copy on roll 20 where I have sheet as background.
