When someone doesn’t choose one of the Assets at Family creation, does that mean they have nothing at all in that are? For example, one of my players has not chosen anything in “How do you fight?” What does that mean in the case they get attacked? What does that mean for their characters in that family?
Thanks!
So, you can always have weapons with either ‘melee’ or ‘ranged’ and no other tags (p61). Similarly, you can always have outfits with one of ‘regal’, ‘camo’ and ‘utility’ (p62). Having no vehicles or followers just means you have none of them. If you want to add extra costs to not having weapons or defences, there’s the Resource Deprivation sidebar on page 65.
Ahh, awesome- thanks!
James Iles may correct me, but I assumed you’re supposed to pick three choices from the assets: one from ‘How do you fight?’, one from ‘How are you defended?’ and one from How do you travel?’ options.
For example, on the Cultivators sheet – for a medical/science theme – you might choose soporific needles and darts for how you fight, near-pristine labcoats for how you defend and a mobile research station for how you travel.
There are four sections in Assets, but you only get 3 choices. The “What expertise can you call on?” Counts as an asset choice as well as far as I can tell
Ah! I misread.
Every single one of my players missed that too! 🙂
It’s meant to be three choices divided how you like across the four categories, yeah. I’d tried to demonstrate that with the character sheet layout but obviously could have made it more explicit, heh
James Iles to be fair we are playing online and not using the official character sheets, so it may have been easier that way 🙂 Also my players didn’t realize the “thing you always have with them” thing, so I think they skipped any text in that part that wasn’t a bullet point 🙂
