I collected some questions that I received about the setting, with my answers, in this document:
http://www.daimongames.com/listing/AW-TCOJudas-0.8/PlaytestFAQ.txt
If you’re going to playtest the game, please have a look.
I will keep updating the document, until I will release a new manual.
The txt contains also a few questions from me to the playtesting GM (and of course, any additional feedback beyond that is absolutely welcome!)
Because certain events haven’t happened yet I thought the timeline was early middle ages, like the 6-700’s.
I would assume the rest of Europe, and the Byzantine Empire, are just as it was in the Middle Ages?
Richard Sardinas I picked the years around 1,000 or so, because it brings to the table a situation which is relatively balanced among the great ‘powers’ of the time.
Rome and Constantinople are potentially equally important (while in the so called dark age, Rome was definitely behind…), Western Europe is on the rise, while the Byzantine Empire is still decently solid.
Islam has become a serious threat – going with the terminology of the game, the followers of the Book of Q have conquered even part of Spain, and have a solid grip on the majority of North Africa.
This is also the time of the crusades, according to real history, and it felt like the appropriate setting for the game.
