I heard a podcast by Jim Cornette where he said that locker room morale for Lucha Underground is really low, with a lot of people trying to get out of their contracts. Anyone else heard anything about that?
He’s clearly biased against it because he hates the fantastical storylines, so I wonder how much of his claim is filtering through that bias.
Have not read anything like that on the net, but who knows. Cornette who has nothing to do with LU, and has publicly said he’s not a fan has about as much a chance being correct as we do.
Catrina seems really happy and the WWE really missed the boat with her.
If you were working on TV’s hottest lucha show, who would you go to complain to? JIM CORNETTE? I guess if you want to feud with the Heavenly Bodies or yell at a Drive Thru.
Konnan has made allegations that the AAA wrestlers are getting screwed and are stuck in contracts that AAA wrote up and then signed on the wrestlers’ behalf without informing anyone.
Allegedly, AAA takes most of their wrestlers’ pay from LU as “managerial fees” and “licensing fees”. If the wrestlers complain, AAA threatens to take them off LU, where they are treated much better than they are in Mexico.
Konnan also claims that Cuerno was told by AAA that he could leave whenever he wanted to. When Cuerno got invited to the CWC, AAA whipped out a contract saying he was contracted for seven seasons of LU and would be blacklisted if he tried to break his contract.
This has all been denied by AAA, who say Konnan is a disgruntled ex-employee . If Konnan is telling the truth, guys like Cuerno, Pentagon Jr., and Fenix have every right to be unhappy.
So yeah, people want to get out of their AAA contracts. So I imagine there’s a big divide there.
