Just watched Hirooki Goto vs. Katsuyori Shibata from Wrestle Kingdom 11. I’ve not seen any Goto matches before this, but I like what I see.
His finisher is called the GTR — but I couldn’t find anything online that explains what those initials stand for. Anyone here know?
No idea, it’s a relatively new move for him.
Keep in mind, it may not stand for anything.
No idea man, but how good was that match?!
Not as good as Shibata vs. Ishii from WK10 the previous year, which contains more Raw Essence Of Macho than even Randy Savage himself could ever safely harness. But it was still a fun match. I’d give it a 7 out of 10.
Agreed, that Ishii/Shibata brawl was epic. Both matches have made me a huge Shibata fan. Dude is the business.
There’s something about the whole “I’m going to sit down and LET you stiff-kick me in the chest” spot that just makes me grin. When Shibata and Ishii did it in turns with each other to prove who was tougher, I couldn’t stop smiling for an hour.
Now I need to go back and watch that again.
Watching The New Beginning in Sapporo, and they identified the move as both “GTR” and “Goto Revolution”.
