I do try to stay positive here but I guess you consider “the internet makes compilation videos mocking your promos” as a Hard Move coming off of a string of botched rolls, huh.

  1. In the last best-and-worst B-Stroud made a good point about how both Reigns and Ambrose are being given terrible material to work with, but the fact that we still like Ambrose and are turning on Reigns is a good indicator of how much of a better pro Ambrose is.

  2. He can’t control those. Also, he’s part of the whole Anoa’i family, just like The Rock. Blue Chip Rocky Maivia was as formulaic as you could get, and The Rock got over that. Not through just being good, but taking time to get better at promos and interacting with the crowd.

Reigns is young enough that he’s got a shot to fix this. It’s on him whether this video is his career in a nutshell, or just “the bad years”.

    Here’s Rocky having 110% feelings in 1996: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1ub69_rocky-maivia-s-debut-promo-raw-1111_sport

  3. He was great in the Shield, but putting him front-and-center is revealing more of what he needs to work on than otherwise.

I don’t doubt that in a couple years he’ll be doing fine.

  4. I doubt that. Because if they keep him down this path and he doesn’t get better at promos, it’s gonna be Ryback all over again, and he’s gonna just gonna be a guy on the roster taking up space.

That being said, the point I was making wasn’t “Reigns is going to be good”. He could keep on doing what he’s told, start dancing like the WB frog, and etc etc. We can’t predict the future.

If they turn him away from Cena and more into Brock, or if they get him promo lessons and he puts a lot of effort into them, or any of the handful of things to get him to focus on his strengths and less on his mic work, he can still be a big star. For some people, that’s too many ifs.

EDIT: Jesus, that’s a lot of words. Sorry about that, got a little carried away.

  5. I am still backing Reigns as I’ve done for past couple of years. I think he’s a work in progress. You’re right. If they let him concentrate on Lesner he’ll get better. The Rock was too polished for my taste. I like them a little rough around the edges. Look what happened to HHH. Oh and just in case anyone wants to say I like him because he’s hot. Well I’m gay so that’s not on my mind. I love wrestling and have for 46 yrs.

  6. I think if he stuck to saying “Believe That” after punching people, that would get him through a lot while he works on his mic skills (or for Vince to lose interest and let someone else take over his promo scripts).

I remember being totally down with Handsome Prince Roman Reigns when he pretty much just speared people all the time.
