Goddam I love the Royal Rumble. (Hence why the Regal Wrangle was, like, the first custom stipulation match I ever wrote).
Who’s watching today?

Fake Spoilers: Batista’s gonna repeat as Royal Rumble winner because it went so well last year.
If Bluetista came in as a surprise entrant I would pop, no lie.
I might be getting a late start, but I’m watching today. Orton comeback prepared for. Bo Dallas comeback hopeful. Prepared for IWC complaints when Reigns wins.
I hope I remember to watch, maybe I might need reminder.
I want Batista to wrestle as Drax. That would be awesome.
Oh man, Basista wrestling in full Drax getup would be pretty awesome.
Yeah, I’ve been figuring Orton will come back tonite ( #DaGawdRandyOrton , if you wheeeel), and maybe Sheamus? He’s been out for a while. It’s in Philly so I imagine RVD will make an appearance, maybe some other old ECW guys (Tommy Dreamer is still kicking around). Some of the usual “legends” (Hacksaw, Sergeant Slaughter). Jericho, probably.
I’m thinking Neville might debut? He has such a great crowd-popping move that if he hits the Red Arrow a couple times in the Rumble, it might actually get people to remember him later (as opposed to Dallas, Bo).
Also, no singles matches on the card (announced so far, at least)!
Last I heard, Dreamer was a producer for TNA, so chances slim on that one.
Draxtista would top even Bluetista for my favorite ‘Tista.
No singles matches does allow them to A) have longer matches and B) have stronger wrestlers carry weaker ones into better matches, I.e. Nattie and Paige carrying the Bellas. Over all though, one of the better cards on paper that they’ve had for a couple of years.
And I’m expecting a pair of NXT call ups. Neville and Kallisto, both have topped out in NXT, and with Miz and Mizdow likely to spilt up between now and Mania, tag division needs fresh blood.
And if some rumours are to be believed, Sheamus might be out a little longer, because the entertainment blogs were saying he has a role in the Star Wars movie, and shooting for that is still going on…
Batista should start a gimmick where he comes back for a couple months, goes and makes a movie, and comes back as that character. So we get Draxtista this year, then Hinxtista next year (that’s right, I looked it up and his Bond role is “Mr. Hinx”).
I would pop.
Yeah, that’s be pretty awesome. I’m not anti-Batista, just that last year’s Rumble went over like a wet fart in church.
I’m watching. The whole problem last year was not having Daniel Bryan in the match. Proof: name one other time you can remember Rey Mysterio getting booed on the way to the ring.
Absolutely. (Tho, even though I don’t think it was on purpose, I do think that the heat from DB’s non-appearance made his Wrestlemania wins all the sweeter)
Hahaha I was gonna say Batista winning as Drax would be amazing but I was SCOOPED.
I can’t wait for the dramatic return of CM Punk as he reveals this UFC nonsense and all was just the biggest work the company’s done.
So my Rumble Predictions were 4 for 6. I incorrectly guessed that New Day would win the pre-show match, and I thought that Nattie and Paige would score the upset over the Bellas. Everything else I had down, even how the finishes happened in a couple of them (I’m looking at you, Miz)
Everything leading up to the triple threat was basically the same episode of RAW that’s been on since Survivor Series, so yeah, not a lot of surprises.
That triple threat, though. Daaaaaaaamn.
There were two big surprises during the night for me.
The first was the quality of work the Bella’s put into their work. I mentioned in an earlier post how I thought that Nattie and Paige would have to carry them through the match…but they didn’t have to, because the Bella’s were solid all on their own.
The second was the scarity and front loading of the surprise entrants in the Rumble match. No surprises, no legends, no fancy signings or one off appearances after the 14th slot with DDP. Hell, the only real surprise beyond that was Daniel Bryan’s early exit, and I actually saw that one coming early.
