I posted earlier how I’d like to have all the players reveal a bit of background about their characters. I’ve decided to make this part of the Promotion Advancement. As the promotion gains audience aspects of the “real lives” of the characters begin to surface and may be starting to impact their careers.
When an Audience reset occurs all characters roll and reveal some aspect of their lives’ off screen:
On a 10+ Choose 2 on a 7-9 Choose 1:
You have some interesting friends: Introduce an NPW to play as a Guest Star in a future episode;
Everyone knows: for the current episode, when you reference this aspect you may roll +Real when you cut a promo.
You’ve gained a following: Gain an Enforcer, Valet or Manager
In The News: Your name gets picked up in some harmless news stories, giving you some name recognition in the area along with some storyline fodder. Make creative set up an out of the ring segment for you.
Remember that one time?: Someone grants you a favor, with a catch.
On a botch, they use it against you, Choose:
Not cool bro: You’ve made a new enemy;
Not exactly how it happened: Rumors spread about your past
You’ve been hacked : something has leaked to the public putting you in a bad position with the locker room or management
So with the audience reset do all players roll flat?
It’s the IWC Roll, basically. The internet gets a hold of the real people behind the characters.
That said, there should be something in regards to a YouTube video series or a podcast dirtsheet. It feels even more real, that way.
Flat roll. Maybe +Audience after reset. Thoughts?
+Audience after reset, cannot spend momentum.
Since Audience is always positive, you’re generally going to be privileging the good results for everyone if you roll on that.
I’d be inclined to roll + Real – that would bring everyone’s Real stat into play (which is generally a dump stat for Gimmicks that don’t center on it), and makes those fun botch results more likely, and since the goal is to bring more legit stuff into play it seems appropriate to me. To pull an example from the headlines: Hogan has a great Audience stat but a terrible, terrible + Real.
+Real makes sense, we’ll see how it goes.
Real could definitely be fun for those Exotic/Masked/Ridiculous gimmicks that rely entirely on look.
It’s a way to bring backstage segments into the game. Usually most of the focus will be on promos and in-ring action
