Creative FAQ
Working on the WWWS2 manuscript, and Justin Hunt brought up a great point, that this is a good place to publish an official FAQ for Creative.
Questions:
How does “overriding Creative’s booking” work? What happens when multiple Moves that override Creative’s booking are made?
Isn’t the Heel Move ability to win matches unbalanced? What do you do if a Heel just uses it every match?
How do you emphasize the strengths, weaknesses and differences between NPWs when they don’t have Stats or roll dice?
What constitutes a feud? Who decides? How many feuds should be going on at one time? Can a wrestler be in more than one feud at a time? When should a feud end? Does ending a feud mean the two wrestlers aren’t booked together anymore?
Can Creative force a Role change, or is it always up to the player?
What’s your frequently asked question? Either from when you were first running the game, or something you see come up a lot?
Not sure if this is FAQ worthy, but, is there a way in the rules to override the heel move to win a match? I’ve been gathering a group of players for the game, but many of the players that want to play babyfaces are concerned that the heel move could be abused.
Usually break Kayfabe can do that, right? The thing to think about, if Heel’s do it a lot, then it seems less and less likely people would respect them backstage. It might even lead to other performers disliking them so much, they go out of their way to try and injure them in the ring.
I think I’ll edit the original post with questions, but folks should feel free to post answers/discuss in this thread.
But yeah, the ability for Heels to cheat to win is deliberately unbalanced, because it’s a defining trait of a Heel. In the moment, the Babyface could Break Kayfabe, or if it’s a recurring problem (“problem”) then Creative needs to use storyline pressure and maybe match stipulations to work around it. In practice it happens less frequently than you’d think, as players get into the groove of working together to put on a good show, and use it at dramatic moments.
As a general note, the one time I ran a four player king of the hill match the players felt it went too fast and was not especially fair feeling. I don’t know if that was just how I ran it though, or if anyone else had that.
Feuds. What constitutes a feud? Do players and/or creative decide what the feuds are? How many feuds should be going on at one time? Can a wrestler be in more than one feud at a time? When should a feud end? Does ending a feud mean the two wrestlers aren’t booked together anymore?
Just brainstorming questions on the concept. Feel free to rephrase or blend together.
Jim Crocker regardless of the details, that is a bummer! And also yeah, more of a one-shot problem, I think.
I think as Creative it would be a good point to maybe pull an ad-hoc dusty finish and restart the match, or have someone come down to your aid and roll into a tag-team match. Or, you grab the mic and cut a promo on him running him down for such cowardly cheap tactics, and get your heat back that way. But that’s a matter of in-play problem-solving, I think?
