Random MC thought of the day: A custom corruption NPC move.

Random MC thought of the day: A custom corruption NPC move.

This move came to me for a mystical healer NPC, like a Hallowed who can heal with their touch.

‘When you go to ‘the healer’ for aid, they can heal 2-harm you’ve suffered. Choose 1:

-You owe them a Debt

-They mark corruption

When they have marked corruption 5 times, the MC will make a hard move. When they have marked another 5 corruption, the MC will change their nature to reflect their fall into darkness. They will no longer help you and have become a Threat to the city. Things will never be the same….

Borrowing from Monsterhearts somewhat.

What if, instead of unlocking the higher tier advancements for your character when you reach 5 advancements, you unlock them for the rest of the protagonists too and for the remainder of the campaign?

Thoughts? Concerns? Do you like it?

My friends and I started a new Urban Shadows campaign last night set in Baltimore. We created characters, discussed the city and its factions, and played out a few scenes for an hour or so. Had an Immortal, Aware and Spectre.

New Faction advance system worked out as expected, they all got 2 of 4 faction marked within the hour and a half of playing and it got them all right into messing with the city’s politics.

The Immortal and Aware owed a Debt to the Vampires who called it in, asking them to retrieve a foreign dignitary who had supposedly wandered into Spring Court territory (which was a breach of their accord). The Immortal and Aware were neutral though and could enter the area to find the missing vampire without risking an inter-faction disaster. Meanwhile the Spectre was contacted by Prince Kalen of the Spring Court to steal an item from a man named Lucius, an ancient spear of no apparent value. Turns out the spear is probably the Spear of Destiny, but don’t tell Fleur, she has no clue. (All these prompts came about from the Session Opening move).

We’ve unlocked 3 stretch goals in under 48 hours, all I can say is “WOW!” to that. Our latest update is also out, including the sneak peek at the three newest stretch goals.

At $28,000, Marissa Kelly will create the fourth member of Mortality, The Scholar. A mortal with just enough knowledge and tricks to keep themselves alive. They also have a slew of artifacts and items to draw upon and a unique relationship to Debts.

At $32,500, Mark Richardson joins the team to produced custom maps for our New York City Guide and at $35,000, Mark will create maps for ALL out city guides. Each map will appear in our Dark Streets city guide compendium and be available online as an oversized PDF.

Thank you to everyone for their continued support, both financially and by talking about the project on social media. Our success is all because of those efforts.
