Hi. Tonight I dipped my toe into a PbtA game for the first time. We played Urban Shadows and I’m Father Luke, a tainted priest who finally found someone who is listened, so I can help my battered flock in a slightly exaggerated pseudo Detroit during its worst economical crisis.
Fairly early during the game, I got the chance to help poor middle-aged George Green to stop being a disgrace for his mother Mary. He’ll overcome his alcohol addiction. He’ll finally find a job. His mother will be proud. And that for the price of his soul. A soul. Most people don’t even believe in a soul. And so on …
I persuaded an NPC through promises, rolled a 7, so I had to take care for his mother, which might be in big trouble (our Oracle said something about a shortened life line, uh oh).
Now I found another move in my playbook: Tainted Corruption Move. Since I persuaded poor George to give up his soul for a job in this life and eternal damnation in the other, I probably persuaded him on my patron’s behalf. So is this move actived at the same time like the persuasion move?
Or is every action only related to just one move?
I have to admit that Father Luke should easily ramp up quite a lot of corruption. That was my first move and I’m already looking for more customers. 🙂
