I want to do PbtA in The Expanse.

I want to do PbtA in The Expanse. I arrived at this idea because I haven’t found a PbtA sci-fi hack I like as much as The Sprawl. For those of you who have watched the show/read the books, what do you think? I think I wouldn’t have to hack too much.

For playbooks, here’s how I see the show/book characters:

Holden: Pusher

Naomi: Tech

Alex: Driver

Amos: Killer or Soldier or ?

Miller: Hunter

The cyberware rules would have to be scrapped for PCs. Vehicles for the Driver would have to be changed to ships (would be fun statting out the Roci…)

Any ideas?

How many players can play The Sprawl before it breaks?

How many players can play The Sprawl before it breaks? I’m asking because there’s a con that requires 5 or 6 players as a game minimum size.

How big have your Sprawl games been? Most I’ve ever done was 4 players which seemed ideal.

Just ran two sessions of The Sprawl at Big Bad Con 2016.

Just ran two sessions of The Sprawl at Big Bad Con 2016. Two totally different games. No repeating playbooks. Two totally different game universes. I think the game has some new fans. I love this game. It felt great to come full circle on it-from trying out Hamish’s work-in-progress a few years ago to introducing new players this year. The Endgame booth also had several copies which were all sold out by the end of con.

Big Bad Con is happening October 14-16.

Big Bad Con is happening October 14-16. This con is where I first played an in-the-works version of The Sprawl run by Hamish Cameron two years ago (he might remember a monofilament whip slicing a security SUV in half while speeding down the highway…)

I’ll be running the only session of The Sprawl on the program, Saturday 10/15 from 8:00 p.m. to Midnight. Any Bay Area/Califorina folks should definitely check out the con. There’s a huge selection of great RPGs, LARPS, and other events.

MC’d for the first time a few nights ago. The team legworked the f*** out of it and I hardly had a chance to use any moves. Seriously epic rolls that made me want to confiscate their dice.

We had to end the session quickly so I decided to use Conduct an Operation instead of action. The roll was another good one. Then came the roll for getting paid: Snake eyes with a +4 from legwork clock slots open means a 6.

Here’s my problem: none of the corporation clocks are above 15:00. I can’t think of what to do because hard moves don’t seem appropriate yet? It doesn’t seem right to have the payment meet go totally FUBAR…

Advice?
