Hi all!

Hi all!

Hi all!

Since Google announced the slow slow death of G+ last October, I’ve been thinking about options for this group. Among my criteria are that the place be friendly, welcoming and inclusive and that not be a burden on my time that delays actual game design and production work.

With those in mind, and following the conversations last October (https://plus.google.com/u/0/+HamishCameron/posts/RBcukQMEA8a), I’ve been scouting some options and I’ve found two new ones:

The Sprawl has had a fan-run subreddit for a while (reddit.com – r/thesprawl). From what I’ve seen, the atmosphere is similar to the G+ community: welcoming, helpful, and enthusiastic about the game.

Through that I also discovered a fan-run Discord (https://discord.gg/HpDp9et) that also fulfills my criteria but offers a different medium for those that prefer this kind of chat community. It also plays to Discord’s strengths by hosting games.

I’ll also add a reminder of the other official digital spaces that I do run: https://www.facebook.com/TheSprawlRPG/ and https://twitter.com/thesprawl_rpg and of course http://www.ardens.org

I think the combination of these spaces satisfy all of my requirements and I will continue monitoring them and contributing to discussions in all of the above. If those options lack something for you, I welcome the creation of new positive and welcoming community-run spaces. If you know of any that exist already or you’d like to create one and want me to share it, let me know below or send me a message or an email (hamish at ardens dot org)!

If everything goes according to plan, I’ll sneak one last product release in here before G+ sails into the deep…

In the meantime, here’s Touched: A Darkening Alley!

When Corporate Hell is not a Metaphor // Release post for the new Touched: A Darkening Alley PDF!

Touched: A Darkening Alley is the first of a series of stand-alone settings introducing magic into the world of The Sprawl. The cyberpunk future is already a horror show. Now it gets supernatural… “The shit-holes are getting shittier, and no one wants to…

Cheers!

This community has been a wonderful hub for The Sprawl and has played a critical role in developing every product we’ve produced. Thanks to everyone who has been a part of that, from the super-posting gurus to the stealthy lurkers! Unfortunately, while Google+ has been a central hub for the tabletop gaming community since it launched, sadly it has been a hub for basically no one else as far as I can see. It’s not really surprising that they’ve decided to shut down the platform.

This leaves us as a community with some interesting choices about where and how to migrate this community. I’m going to throw a few ideas out there, but I’m most interested in what you all think and any other ideas you might have.

-There is a Facebook page, but I don’t see that as a viable option.

-Perhaps more useful is the existing Reddit community.

-A new direction could be a Discord community.

-other things?

That’s enough from me for now. Except to say thanks to you all again!

The Sprawl: Mission Files is a collection of ten new cyberpunk missions for The Sprawl. Infiltrations, extractions, heists, recovery ops, wetwork, investigations, hunts, pursuits, shakedowns, Mr Smith has them all… and more.

Ready to run. Each mission includes a brief summary of the fictional setup and details on the people and places involved, as well as all the clocks and directives you need.

Hack them into your own shape. Each mission also takes you behind the scenes with design notes on its structure and ideas for hacking the mission to make it uniquely yours.

Between the lines and beyond the missions. The Sprawl: Mission Files is also filled with MC advice and tips for how to handle tricky situations and how to tweak familiar features of the game to enrich your play experience.

My sound quality isn’t great, but there should be some interesting stuff in there, including design thoughts, MCing the game, the upcoming The Sprawl: Mission Files (being laid out right now), and my brief ballpark speculation about a second edition in 2022 ;).
