Management is pleased to report that yesterday’s scheduled drill caused only minor delays in non-essential sectors. We are pleased to announce that final incorporation of your feedback to The Sprawl document was completed and has been passed along the development chain to the layout department.

After a couple of days of work in the text and logistics (such logistics!) I was hoping to put out a backer update this afternoon. Sadly, the best laid plans of Ardens Ludere have been delayed by some shadow team’s mission: http://t.co/bV65vNw169

I hope the transformer explosion was part of their plan!

A new backer update and a new (final) version for your perusal!

I’ll be running The Sprawl (and Dungeon World) at Origins this weekend. Come say hi!

As I move through the text, I’m thinking about custom moves and hacking The Sprawl.

As I move through the text, I’m thinking about custom moves and hacking The Sprawl.

Why not crowd source some of that, I thought to myself?

So, if anyone has any custom moves they like and wants to share them, please post them here or send them to me.

Or if anyone has areas of the game that they’d like to see more custom moves or hacks for, let me know.

As I noted in the last update…

As I noted in the last update (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ardensludere/the-sprawl-cyberpunk-roleplaying-powered-by-the-ap/posts/1238690), I got the final edits back from Gerald Cameron a couple of weeks ago.

Last week I went over those parts I needed to consider and address before running a game at Gamex over the weekend.

Today I’ve begun to attack the rest of the document. Mostly this involves accepting Gerald’s changes to the document. Sometimes it involves rejecting them. Sometimes there are new sections to discuss and write. My goal is to have this process done before I leave for Origins next Wednesday. That might be optimistic, but I have a few clear days, so I’m hopeful that I can get it done.

MC: Lucifer bucks and screams as the RPG splinters her bodywork, cracks the rear window and blows a chunk out of her back left tire. The wind sends her spoiler spinning up and into the night as you struggle to correct the spin. Your HUD display shows a heat spike near the fuel tank, then BOOM! Lucifer flips end over end, tossing you around the cabin like a trussed up crash dummy until she comes to a rest on her roof on the sidewalk. Take 3 harm and make the harm move.

DRIVER: I want low right? I get a 7… plus 3. 10… Ugh.

MC: The Blackwater-Verizon van screeches to a halt a hundred meters away and you see boots emerge and fan out. Which one of those options do you choose?

DRIVER: I’m gonna regret this… I’m choosing the cyberware option. The electrics fed back into my Control Systems during the crash and shorted the CPU.

MC: Ouch. It feels like your head is on fire as you force yourself to focus on the approaching kill team. What do you do?

I’m almost finished the move example text.

Okay, Chummers, wage slaves, Sararipeeps, gutter punks, low lives, and badass motherfuckers, drop me some street…

Okay, Chummers, wage slaves, Sararipeeps, gutter punks, low lives, and badass motherfuckers, drop me some street knowledge!

I’m seriously considering kicking Manoeuvre to the curb (it’s not obvious how it flows from the fiction, and there are arguably too many moves in the game) BUT, I love that it puts those mechanical options for making combat dynamic right there on the table in front of the players.

So, come at me with elegant ways to keep that stuff in front of the players eyes and minds, while scrapping the move.
