I think I’m as ready as I’m gonna be for the little stand-up setup to keep track of big matches, for Origins at least. I going to make some from the pencil sketches I have, and from Gregor Hutton’s move illos, but yah. This is basically the setup.

My Patreon backers will be getting links to download the files to make their own, soon as a clean them up a little bit!

It’s been a little quiet on the WWWRPG front, as I’ve been letting all the playtesting from the winter soak into my brain, and ALSO WWE is in it’s annual post-Wrestlemania “not that great” period, so I haven’t been watching much wrestling.

But! I have a Longcon event coming up at Origins, and the time to devote to at least Gimmick revisions before that happens. So hopefully I’ll have some new stuff to share, first with Patreon supporters and then with the general public, to kick off the summer.

And I’m pulling together a realistic timeline for the final product release, which is exciting.

So, gestation right now, but more wrasslin’ soon!

Maybe I should print the Creative cheat sheet in pink..

Maybe I should print the Creative cheat sheet in pink..

This is actually really interesting, and because I have game design brain damage, I can’t help but notice how close the “checklist” is to the list that Creative should have (formally or mentally) for a game of WWWRPG…

(thanks for the tip Tim Rodriguez )

As the results of our final Episode last night, the prestigious Pan-Oceanic World Wide Wrestling Championship is to awarded to any wrestler on the roster by FAN VOTE.

If you’ve been tracking my AP reports of this game, you may be familiar with some of the roster, but feel free to vote based simply on name if you’d like!

The list of AP reports is here, for the curious: https://plus.google.com/113171717066139475855/posts/VNMm6PuR9Ec

I will tally the results in a week and award the POW Belt accordingly!

My battle plan for WWWRPG revisions:

My battle plan for WWWRPG revisions:

My battle plan for WWWRPG revisions:

– refine wording and phrasing with an eye towards clarity/avoiding jargon

– integrate a graceful Injury mechanic (or see if it can’t be done at this point)

– condense Gimmick moves – probably by removing a Move from each playbook, to start

– refine Advancement options

– first drafts of The Gatekeeper and The Transgressive to join The Giant for Patreon backers

– outline/flowchart how Creative works based on my longterm play experiences

I’m aiming to have the refined Gimmicks ready for Origins, at least.

This game is coming along!

We’re wrapping up our weekly game this evening, and then I think it’ll be time to go back to the workshop on this game.

I’m really happy with it! But there’s another round of winnowing and smoothing to do on the Gimmicks, and also I want to map out the additional content that I want to produce for the final published game.

What this means for you, hypothetical game reader/player: this is a good time to post any feedback you might have on the game mechanics, writing, current presentation, what ifs, etc (I’m looking at YOU Stras Acimovic in particular!).

I will almost certainly be posting another round of Gimmicks for playtesting over the summer, but not changing the core rules much if at all for the forseeable future (you’ll notice that I sneakily didn’t include any of the Gimmick info in the rules text, so’s I can do that). So if you have the opportunity to play the game, don’t hold back. The fundamentals are solid at this point, it’s all about optimizing the content and presentation for maximum fun-ocity.

Kickstarter goal: color e-paper book covers so this can be the front and back cover of WWWRPG.

I’ve been thinking about the Announcer role, stemming from how it worked in the Forge Midwest game ( Clyde Rhoer covers it in his post here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/106649886968748302565/posts/Kv47PPZaVEB)

So right now, the Announcer has 3 Momentum to spend on folks in the ring. This is enough to usually take a miss to a hit, or a hit to a strong hit. Often, the Announcer kind of waits and there’s a bit of negotiation (like, hey, if you spend 1 Momentum, I can spend 2 to get you to 10). When the Announcer is out of Momentum, the mic gets passed to someone else and refills to 3.

Since the goal of the Announcer is put over the people in the ring, and there’s no reason to spend the Momentum if it’s not going to do anything, I’m thinking of simplifying this further, to this:

The Announcer

When you’re the Announcer, you’re responsible for describing how impressive, amazing and skillful the action you see in the ring is. You take the narration from the in-ring performers and sum it up, putting your own spin on it to make a more compelling story for the viewing audience at home.

As part of this, whenever a performer makes a roll, you can put over their effort and upgrade their roll one step (from a miss to a 7-9, from a 7-9 to a 10+). This means that you take their action and describe it’s outcome in the most glowing and impressive terms possible! You can put over each performer once per match. After you put them over, they resume narration and the match continues (you continue recapping the action as well). At the end of the match, return the mic to Creative.
